Yaşamkent Özel Çoban Yıldızı Anaokulu

Who we are

A school that lets childhood be childhood.

Çoban Yıldızı Kindergarten is a place where children play, meet nature, make and try things through art, and follow their own curiosity.

English is part of daily life here; robotics and coding, drama, visual arts, yoga and Zumba run regularly through the year.

We care about natural food, about how children feel, and about expert support — not only preparing children for the future, but letting them live their today to the full.

Because a good school, to us, is not one that fills a child's day but one that makes room for childhood.

What we care about

Safety

Cameras, a health team and specialist support.

Care

Every child matters; we meet them with warmth and respect.

Curiosity

We raise children who wonder, ask and try.

Sharing

Social skills, empathy and being part of a group.

How we teach

We prepare a child for the future without forgetting their childhood.

At Çoban Yıldızı, the child is at the centre of what we do.

Every child has their own character, curiosity, interests, way of learning and pace of growth. So instead of comparing children with one another, pressing them into one mould or expecting the same from all of them, we get to know and support each child inside their own journey.

For us, teaching is not a constant transfer of information.

It is making room for a child to wonder, ask, try, be wrong, try again, make things, move, and find their own solutions.

Learning does not only happen in a classroom. A child putting a seed into soil is learning too.

How we see childhood

Childhood is not a period to be hurried through.

We believe childhood has a rhythm of its own.

A child needs to build a game for hours, to try the same thing again and again, to get muddy, to run, to laugh, to daydream — and sometimes simply to watch what is going on.

Childhood is not a preparation to be rushed on the way to being grown up; it is a valuable stretch of life in itself.

We care about a child's today as well. Children do not only learn — they live.

We do not want to fill every minute at school with activities, worksheets and planned work.

Some days we plan an activity. Some days we go out into the garden.

Nature and the garden

A child who touches soil learns life differently.

Being outdoors is not a reward here; it is part of the day.

Children plant, water and wait; they watch what grows and what does not. Patience, care and responsibility are learned by living them, not by being told.

Rain or mud does not cancel the garden — the right clothes do the job.

English

Children who meet English more often, and live the language rather than study it.

English is not a lesson slotted into the week; it runs through the day.

Songs, games, stories and everyday moments carry the language, so children hear it in a natural flow rather than as vocabulary to memorise.

English time

Natural food

We know what is on our children's plates, and we are happy to share it.

The menu is planned with care and cooked with fresh ingredients.

Children are not forced to eat; they are encouraged to try. Sitting at the table together is part of the day, not a chore to be finished.

Meal time

Visual arts

Sometimes a child draws what they cannot say.

In the atelier the material is open and the result is the child's own.

We do not ask for a copy of a model; we ask what they want to make. What comes out is theirs, and it is enough.

Music

We do not listen to music — we grow up inside it.

Rhythm, instruments and voice are part of the week with our Orff sessions.

Children play, sing and move; music becomes something they do rather than something they watch.
